Educational Philosophy:

My educational beliefs are that students are in school to learn. I would like to help them learn efficient ways to teach themselves and encourage them to help other students that are struggling with a problem that they know how to solve. Me being a science teacher, I feel like this subject is something that these students will need for the rest of their lives. Everywhere you go science is all around you. Science is the definition of life. What students learn in these subjects can be applied in real-life situations, not just in school. What also helps students to learn better and focus with discipline, are rules. These are a few of the rules I will have in the classroomRules are important, they help establish the classroom. They do not have permission to hit or touch others and their personal things. I do not have permission to physically help a student unless they say so. They do not have permission to touch me by trying to get my attention without permission. They cannot yell or talk out of turn. They have to respect the teacher and keep their hands to themselves unless they are helping others. There will be no bullying whatsoever in my classroom. Everyone will have an equal amount of respect and will be kind to ourselves and to others. This is also can be applied in the real world. Kids cannot grow up believing it is okay to break the law, so we must teach them young and give them an understanding early on. I plan to teach and engage students in learning with classroom activities. The activities I will be using will be crossword puzzles and flash cards. The crossword puzzle will be the way it’s supposed to be, but I will do the puzzle on the interactive dry-erase board and the students will help me figure it out. Also, so they can interact more, they can come up one by one and solve one of the words. The flash card activity will consist of the parts of a plant. I will hold up the different parts of the plant and the students will try to say the correct word or guess it. For example, if I am holding up the leaves. They will look at the flash card and guess the name of the part of the plant. They have to raise their hand if they think they know the answer. The correct answer will be on the other side of the card.
